From Sandnessjøen, follow FV17 southward for 3.5-4 km towards Søvik, then turn onto 7264 (Markvollveien) towards Breimo. After approximately 4.2 km, you will reach the developed parking lot at Breimo, where there are signs pointing to Botnkrona and Grytfoten, as well as the shorter hike to Fjellsåsvannet. If you are coming from Søvik, follow Markvollveien northward. After 6.1 km, you will arrive at the parking lot.
The parking lot is equipped with a toilet, benches, and an information board with a map of the hiking trail.
From the parking lot, follow the gravel road towards the power station and the marked trail to the left in the forest by the high-voltage power line.

If you are coming from Søvik, follow Markvollveien northward. After 4 km, you will arrive at the parking lot.

From the parking lot, follow the marked trail through Markvollskaret and through the sheep pasture to the foot of the mountain. Remember to keep your dog on a leash!
In the summer of 2024, we unfortunately do not have a publicly accessible parking lot at the trailhead to Kvasstinden. The parking lot previously used by hikers in this area is on private property and is closed to public use.
The nearest designated parking lot for hikers is at Markvoll, approximately 2.5 km further north along Markvollveien (the same parking lot used for hiking to Tvillingene and Skjæringen).
From Sandnessjøen, follow FV17 southward for approximately 15 km to Søvik. From Tjøtta, it is about 23.5 km to Søvik.
Turn off the county road to the parking lot for the Søvikskaret recreational area. From here, there are signs pointing to Stortind/Breitind, as well as the shorter hikes to Vetfjellet and Storrunden.
From the parking lot, follow the marked trail over the river and through the sheep pasture to the foot of the mountain. Remember to keep your dog on a leash!
The parking lot at Søvikskaret is being upgraded and will eventually have information boards, benches, and toilets.
